EXA Outpost Setiawalk review

Sunday, December 10, 2017
I went to EXA Outpost which was located in Setiawalk. I've never been to this Setiawalk mall before but it was some kind of an open-air mall. From the outside it looked just like a building of offices also Setiawalk was near to IOI Puchong, actually it was exactly opposite of it. I called the EXA Outpost before I made my way there, the reason is because I wanted to know if I should do a reservation or could I just walk-in? Well they let me know that their last session for that night was at 8.30 and I came right at time. The space were quite limited so I think it's better if you call them first. So what is this EXA Outpost? Ever played laser tag? It was a lot like that but more to add is that it was played using virtual reality(VR). Down here I write down the details of EXA Outpost for reader's reference. Read the whole post to know how my experience went like.

EXA Outpost
B-11-1, Block B
Setiawalk, Puchong.
Tuesday - Thursday: 1 pm - 9 pm (last admission: 8.30 pm)
Friday - Sunday: 2 pm - 10 pm (last admission: 9.00 pm)

This is the entrance to EXA Outpost.

Just a little 'idea' about the game at the entrance.

Gotta go up the stairs to the place.

Go to the counter to see what promo they have as well as to purchase your game.

Few stuffs.

If you plan to come here often with your buds, this is a good deal to grab.

The combo deal I bought.

You may bring your phone or whatever you want to but your homegirl brought her handbag so umm it was safer to store it in the locker while I play the game. Only RM 2 per locker.

The entry to dimension 12.

This lane made me feel like I was in Tron movie for a moment, not so much but kinda.

Before we start playing the game, our guide Faiz gave an insight of what our mission was all about.

We sat here while listening to our guide explanation.

Welcome to Dimension 12, here you can see Faiz is explaining about our guns and how to use it.

The whole time we played the game in here.

As we played the game, we were guided with directions and clues.

The gear I had on, but sorry I wouldn't want to upload me in those...here  .______.

After we finished playing the games, the staff helped us to take off our gears here and ask how we felt about our game.

Our gunssssss.

They are also selling their merchandise, only sold at their place.

The reason that they have these bar tables and chairs are because they offer any private event to take place here. Be it a birthday bash, bachelor party or even a corporate event.

Malay nagging: Fuhh penat sis! Padahal main 20 mins je, sebelum tu I was like, "alaaa kejapnya dapat main" tapi lepas habis main peluh2, namun I gagahkan jua diri utk nampak chill demi satu selfie.

Malay nagging: Banyak kali gak fikir nak upload ke tak, hahahahah sadisnya markah I tp nak buat camne ni my first time and this is obviously not my forte!

Here was my friendly guide for that night, Faiz. Thank you for the good service!

I bought the Dimension 12 Combo Deal (RM 60); a game of 1 episode which was about 20 mins. You could play the game with a minimum number of 2 persons and a maximum of 4 people. Honestly, my first VR experience was surreal! Sure felt like myself was fully immersed into another place. EXA Oupost equipped best gadgets for the game and one should put these on before playing: 1) VR visor ii) a headset iii) VR backpack and of course, iv) a gun. The game include a lot of shooting and the gun had a sensor which let the player to communicate their position and translate them to in-game positions. Worry not if you are clueless as some points of the game as there will be someone who guide you to complete your mission behind those headset. Although the venue was a tad bit small but overall I had a great night trying out something new and this will definitely make it; for a day out with the buds especially for the guys.

Affordable dental service at Lincoln University College, Petaling Jaya (part 1)

Saturday, November 18, 2017
This is going to be a looong detailed post so I divided them into two parts. This is part 1. I have a friend(Hakimi/Kimi) at Lincoln Uni College who is currently doing his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) there. On Instagram, he told me that Lincoln Uni College has a dental clinic which serves as a training place for their dental students as well as its way to give back to the society by giving affordable dental services publicly. He asked if I wanted to come and so I told myself maybe I'll give it a try someday. Hakimi was my classmate from 11 up until we were 15 and later he went to a boarding school. Frankly speaking, in those 5 years he was very shy during our adolescent years(especially toward girls) unlike me; very outspoken hahaha. My male classmates at the age of eleven to fifteen years young were either nerdy nice or nerdy naughty means anyhow they act, they are still pretty decent human beings and took studies seriously at the end of the day. Just kids being kids and Kimi was on the nerdy nice team lol. I finally agreed to the dates of appointment with Kimi and he managed it for me.

Hakimi, 2017.

Circa 2010(find me and Hakimi lol)

As far as I know, there are 3 Lincoln Uni College branches and the only one that delivers dental services is located in Petaling Jaya.

Make your way to this sign of gate entrance.

The Lincoln University College’s dental clinic is exactly next to the reception counter of the building(shaky pics cuz I'm hungry, ya I get a little shaking when starving)

As you enter the dental clinic, go the counter where the girl stands and tell the staff that you're a new patient. If you're coming by appointments, you will have to state the name of the person who invited you but you may also walk-in with no appointments, except that I didn't know how are the procedures for walk-ins.

For a newbie, you will have to wait some time to set for appointments. Why appointments? Because there will be 2 appointments if you are a new patient. The 1st appointment is for the student to literally examine and diagnose you and your health condition whereas the 2nd appointment is where you undergo a dental treatment.

On the 1st appointment, you will need to fill in your details in a form including to sign this consent agreement because the treatments are carried out by students but fret not as I will explain more of that at the end of this post.

Submit the forms and make a fee payment of RM10 to register as a new patient. They will hand you an official receipt and a dental appointment card so the next time you come, you could just bring the card and every treatment made will be recorded.

Click the picture to read the service flowchart for new and ongoing patients clearly.

After you're done submitting the form and fee payment, enter the dental care.

At the dental care, you will need to wait for your turn at this hall.

My turn(yay)!!

Ended my 1st appointment with the right way to brush and floss my teeth(although we may have learned this before, give it a go, let the students feel they're completing the procedures well.

End of treatment for my 1st appointment. From my experience, the location of Lincoln Uni College, Petaling Jaya was easy to be found because I travelled by LRT to CGC Glenmarie station which was only 5 mins away walking distance from Lincoln. Everything was smooth, from the counter service to the treatment provided. Hakimi was full of humor and I honestly don't know where did that come from because Kimi was such a shy boy in our childhood. The Lincoln University College, Petaling Jaya dental clinic is open every Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 3.30pm and the public can walk in for screening and diagnosis. Only after the 1st appointment with a proper screening of health condition, the patient may continue further treatments such as scaling, extractions, removal of wisdom teeth, etc. The dental clinic charged a minimal cost so I don't think their aim was to make a profit but for their students to gain the best experience out of class.

Be known that the students there can do almost every treatment except for cleft surgeries and braces. Despite the treatment was carried out by my own friend who is still a dental student, there was definitely no reason to feel afraid as every single(littlest) act done by them need to get an approval from the dental specialists(also their lecturers) who were responsible to supervise them. Even after Kimi done diagnosing me, the specialist came to scrutinize my teeth afterward to check whether Kimi correctly described my teeth descriptions. However, if the dental treatment was too complex, the specialists will take over and do it for them while the students observe and digest. It was truly a memorable experience as it was done by my old friend. Part 2 about my treatment experience coming right up and to introduce his lab partner, Naja. Soon!

Paperfish pokébowl TTDI review

Wednesday, November 15, 2017
Over the weekend, my sister was home(yay) for our cousin's wedding. Well right after leaving the wedding, my sisters and I wanted to go for some Nyonya festival at Eco World but it was sprinkling rain so nahh that wouldn't be good. Browsed for a good place to dine in with the sisters. I have been craving to eat pokébowl since last month and Paperfish is the place we decided to go that evening. It's located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, KL (just Waze/Google Map your way there) pretty far from our home, about 35 mins away(not including the time to search for a parking space and the traffic congestion), You may also order through the Foodpanda app and they will deliver it right to your doorstep.

Voila! Our Hawaiian inspired by Paperfish. Looks scrumptious, but does it taste as good as it looks?

This Paperfish sign board lights up at night. Look at its cute origami fish shape! :3

The outside dining space.

So here's the Paperfish food counter(it functions just like the Subway ordering system). Start your way from the left side of the counter.

This is a clear instruction on how to custom order your pokébowl. The best part is the unlimited choice and amount of toppings!

Make your way until you reach the right side of the counter, upon payment let the cashier knows your base and your choice of poké(as well as the additional scoop, if you did). Then wow! I saw their mini glass trophy, they actually won the Battle of Pokébowl but umm we'll see how it taste like...

The interior is mostly white painted giving it a clean finish look(spot my sister).

From left to right: mine, Sofia's, Leyka's. So for my pokébowl, I chose quinoa as a base and had to add +RM6.00 for it because it's a premium base, along with a sriracha mayo on top of it. For the sides, I picked broccoli, edamame, tomatoes, and olives whereas spicy salmon(raw salmon my fav ofc) as my poké. My toppings were spring onions, shrimp ebiko(raw shrimp eggs), seaweed flakes and sundried tomatoes.

Well we changed our seats later on (n . n)

Make sure to clean up your trays, bowls, cutlery and even mugs to the disposable bin provided. Be responsible for your own trash, please.

There's also a bar seating facing the glass.

And you could write a feedback to them regarding Paperfish's food and services.

The outside bar seating which was also facing the glass. Wow! Wouldn't it be awkward if you're sitting there alone and someone is also eating alone seated opposite of you inside of the shop. Hahaha it's inevitable but isokay.

Fun thing! Write a message or do a doodle, anything you like.

And later paste it on this wall. Mark your presence :)

Here's me in my naked face looking pale and my two sisters who haven't removed their makeup after the wedding. Yes, just so yknow I have to state that.

Thinking rationally now.. it wasn't really that worth it unless we were hanging around TTDI few hours before we dine in since it's quite far from our home and the trip home was horrible because we were stuck in a traffic congestion along the federal highway. The food? Mehh, I don't really get the hype though. Yknow how they say healthy food aren't always bland and all. Well, my spicy salmon pokébowl was quite a disappointment(to me), the salmon really didn't taste as good and fresh as it should be, tasted like it was lack of something, I've had better raw salmon before. The quinoa was overcooked and the sauce really didn't make up for it. For the price, I didn't think it was worth it at all. Mine was priced at RM25.90(overpriced don't you think?) and Leyka took the same pokébowl as me(spicy salmon) which cost RM19.90 also ended up as bland as mine. I think Sofia had a good meal, the winner was the Cajun Chicken pokébowl and a Japanese egg roll(pls have this one if you're ordering) as one of her sides, marinated spices for the grilled chicken was so flavorful! Her pokébowl was only RM16.90, haih the cheapest and the most worthy of all among the three of us haha.

Value for money:

Hope the next review will be a lucky gamble of food tasting. Well to more foodventure soon!
